How do I do "Permissions"?
Permissions is a plugin that allows you, to set a player(s), or the group(s) permissions. By permissions, this is giving them certain commands, for example; Giving your admin the command "/tp" when you want them to be able to teleport to others, or even give a special command to a special person!
To give a person the access to a command, you must first install a Permissions plugin. We suggest using the bPermissions plugin for sorting out Permissions, and it is a very stable type of Permissions plugin.
To start out, we suggest getting the plugin working. Download it here and install it using FTP or BukGet on the Multicraft Panel.
Once your server has been restarted after installing the plugin, you should read the basics of commands on bPermissions, click here.
After this is completed, we will bring an example of using the plugin, please ensure that the plugin is working on your server, if not check if you are using bukkit. If you don't know how to install bukkit, please follow the guide here.
I will be showing you how to create permissions for the plugin 'Essentials' and basic commands for a default player, and an administrator.
So start off by starting up your server, and logging into it. Ensure that you are an Operator, have bPermissions installed and Essentials.
Log into your server, and firstly type in /world world. This will select the world to the world. Your world name may be a different name, e.g; StreamWorld etc. You will recieve a message somewhat similar to this.
You can now type in /group Default. Since automatically, the default group is 'Default', you would want to keep it to Default. You will get this message.
You want to give the default player a few commands. Start off by using /group addperm (permission). I got the permissions for Essentials on their BukkitDev page specifically for permissions, click here.
I want the 'Default' player to have /tpa, /tpaccept, /tpahere and /tpdeny. I found the permissions on the Essentials page, which is essentials.tpa, essentials.tpaccept, essentials.tpahere and essentiald.tpdeny. Tpa is the command where you send a request to teleport to somebody, when they use the command Tpaccept after you have sent the /tpa command. Tpahere is the same thing, though you're requesting the player to teleport to you, and denying, is just denying the request.
In game, you will want to put the command /group addperm (permission). You will firstly do any command you want, ensure you have selected the group default, and then type in /group addperm essentials.tpa, /group addperm essentials.tpahere, /group addperm essentials.tpdeny, /group addperm essentials.tpaccept. This will add the permissions I want the basic player to use.
You will recieve these messages.
I also want my default players to have a nice prefix saying [Player] in light green. To get colour codes, click here.
You would want to add the prefix to the group, so /group meta prefix &a[Player]&f.
NOTE: You need EssentialsChat to do Prefixes/Suffixes.
You can also do /group meta suffix (suffix), this goes after their name.
Want to give a certain player a prefix? Simple! /user (name), /user meta prefix &6[Special]&c... those special people love the server :)
Giving a seperate person a simple command like kick is easy! Just type in /user (name) then /user addperm essentials.kick.
We want to move on to our Administrators, we want to make sure they have power over the server, and they can control players. Therefore, we want to provide them with kick, mute and ban. The permissions are essentials.kick, essentials.mute, and essentials.ban.
We want to create the new group, and make sure it isn't default, so move on to /world world, /group Admin (this automatically creates the group), /group addperm (permissions). Lets do this! Type in the commands, like before but using the other commands. Lets give the Admins a nice prefix, to show they're an administrator, and is protecting the server! I'll use dark purple, &5, and give the prefix of [Admin]. We can simply do this, how we did the normal players. /group meta prefix &5[Admin]&c, the &c changes the name colour.We want to create the user to become an admin, so we select the user using /user (name), then set their group using /user setgroup Admin. This will make them a protector of the server!
Hackers! Thats what the admins have ban for...! Yep. Your admin did the job and banned him!
To get the permissions between all three worlds, use an FTP program to copy the files from /plugins/bpermissions/mainworld (users.yml,groups.yml) and distribute them, between world_the_end, and world_nether. This will ensure that your Admins keep their permissions in all of the worlds and players of course!
